Urban legends often turn horror into storytelling to make the unbearable palatable. For the "Légendes Urbaines" exhibition (cré’ Art, 2020), I explored two myths from the Stalinist era—one from a creepypasta, the other from intelligence reports. Inspired by Joan Fontcuberta’s mockumentaries, the goal isn’t to convince anyone of these legends’ authenticity, but to stage horror pushed to its extreme—a horror grounded in very real historical facts. While The No Sleep Experiment and Metro 3 remain myths, labor camps, human experimentation, and oppressive systems were—and still are—terrifyingly real.
This series, exhibited in December 2020, has since been acquired by a private collector of engaged art.
